It is safe to say that Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott officially solidified his looming contract extension as the once heralded NFC East franchise defeated the rival New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. Aiding such a notion, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones quickly let reporters know that Prescott's contract extension could even get done in the next few days with his team jumping out to a 1-0 start in Dallas.
Of course, the two sides were close to coming to terms before Sunday's NFC East matchup in Dallas despite a deal ultimately not getting done before the rival Giants came to town.

It is also worth noting that Prescott is just the latest Cowboys player to make his way into a long line for a contract extension. In addition to Prescott's soon-to-be new deal, the Cowboys also inked the likes of running back Ezekiel Elliott, linebacker Jaylon Smith and offensive tackle La'el Collins to brand new long term contracts. Spending hundreds of millions of dollars on retaining players this past offseason and now into the 2019 regular season, it is clear that Jones and company are committed to not only winning in the present but also the future.
Although the Cowboys have continued to reach the playoffs in addition to capturing division titles, Dallas has not been to or won a Super Bowl in well over 20 years. Not only that, but the Cowboys have watched the aforementioned Giants win a pair of Super Bowl titles and the Philadelphia Eagles one of their own since Dallas' last Super Bowl appearance.
