The Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise on planet Earth, literally. It is estimated to be worth $5.7 billion by Forbes, a few hundred million more than the New York Yankees. A lot of that is credit due to owner Jerry Jones. Jones purchased the team in 1989 in $180 million and has taken them to a new level.

Early on in Jones' tenure, the Cowboys won three Super Bowl titles. When teams win a lot, they create divisiveness among sports fans. You either love them or hate them. Well, many people love to hate the Dallas Cowboys. Yet, Cowboys superstars Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb were apparently not aware of that.

Parsons and Lamb explained their ignorance to that fact as they made their rounds at the media center this week. As NBC Sports' Mike Florio shared their thoughts. ““I knew but I didn’t really know… But I didn’t know like Dallas was like Dallas. I didn’t know we had that much hate… I didn’t know all that came with it,” said Parsons.

Lamb had a poignant take that most people can agree with. “Everyone loves to see you lose… It’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

There are a number of reasons the Cowboys are considered “America's Team.” From 1963 to 1983, they won more games than any football franchise. It was during that time that the sports popularity took off. They were on television as much if not more than any other team. The blue star is easily one of the most recognizable logos in all of sports. In 1979, an announcer referred to them as America's team for those reasons, and it stuck.

Everyone knows that in the state of Texas, football is king. That is never more true than in Dallas.
