Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons got brutally honest on what went wrong for them in their 2021 playoffs Wild Card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers: their mentality.

The Cowboys entered the postseason with high hopes after finishing the campaign atop the NFC East with a 12-5 record. They were widely expected to win and compete for the Super Bowl, with the up-and-down 49ers no looking like legitimate threats.

However, the 49ers proved their doubters wrong as they took down the Cowboys, 23-17. Dallas trailed right in the first quarter and wasn't able to recover.

According to Parsons, the nerves got the best of them. More than that, though, they simply didn't come into the game with the hunger to win at all cost.

“I don't think we came out to play championship football. We gave up too much free stuff and in a game like that you have to work for every yard,” Parsons said during an appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show.”

“You could definitely feel the nerves. A lot of pressure… You gotta win that game.”

A lot really went wrong for the Cowboys in the game, and it's hard to put the blame on just one key factor. Nonetheless, it certainly lit a fire inside Micah Parsons as he vowed to help Dallas get back to Super Bowl contention sooner rather than later.

That will be tough given the Cowboys' recent history of poor play in the playoffs. But the team could certainly use some of Parsons' never-say-die attitude as they look to end their Super Bowl drought.
