The Dallas Cowboys grabbed a critical 38-14 win on Thursday night over the Washington Redskins that has kept them in the mix to compete for a playoff spot.
However, their secondary took a significant hit in the contest with cornerback Orlando Scandrick suffering two transverse process fractures in his back, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The injury occurred in the third play of the game after he was kicked in the back but was able to stay in the game until the fourth quarter. It is similar to what Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr suffered earlier this season that he was able to make a return following a one-game absence. Scandrick could likely operate on the same time frame with his respective ailment.
The 30-year-old had missed one game earlier this season due to a broken hand. Prior to that, he was sidelined for the 2015 season because of a torn ACL and sat out for four games last season with hamstring strains.
If he is forced to miss any time, it puts the Cowboys in an interesting predicament of deciding whether to reinsert Anthony Brown back into the starting lineup. Brown had been benched prior to Thursday game due to his inconsistent play this season.
