In the months leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft, analysts have attempted to pinpoint what position the Dallas Cowboys could address in the first round. Stephen Jones, the Executive Vice President of the Cowboys, revealed which position will be Dallas' focus in the NFL Draft.

Similar to most teams, the Cowboys have a variety of needs that still remain on their roster this late in the offseason. However, Jones subtly noted that Dallas could have their sights set on selecting a cornerback in the first round.

While making an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said, “We'll certainly look to improve there” when asked about the void at cornerback. Of course, early in free agency, the Cowboys lost Byron Jones to the Miami Dolphins.

Throughout free agency, Dallas did address the defense, signing Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Aldon Smith. Despite strengthening their defensive line, the Cowboys could still decide to improve it even more. The same can be said for all of their positions on defense, especially cornerback.

Without Jones, Dallas currently deploys a cornerback group that features Anthony Brown, Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis. As much confidence as the Cowboys have in those guys, it's evident that there's room for improvement.

For the time being, the Cowboys possess the No. 17 pick in the first round of this year's draft. With a multitude of needs on the defense, mock drafts have had Dallas taking a variety of positions. Regardless of what round they take one, Jones made it crystal clear that the Cowboys intend to draft a cornerback this year.
