Taco Charlton has not exactly lived up to expectations since the Dallas Cowboys took him in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he realizes that he is completely aware of that fact.

“I ain’t done [expletive],” Charlton said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “I ain’t done nothing. I still have a lot of work to do, a lot of stuff to prove. This ain’t nothing to me but lace them up. Let’s play the next game.”

Charlton actually had a very impressive showing in the Cowboys' preseason win over the Houston Texans on Saturday evening, tallying three tackles, a couple of sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, but things did not end well, as he tweaked the ankle on which he underwent surgery earlier this offseason.

If he is healthy, Charlton will likely play in Dallas' final exhibition game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday.

“If I play the fourth game, then I play the fourth game,” Charlton said. “I just need to get my ankle right and play ball. I’m willing and ready to play whenever. I’m just happy to be out here with my boys and playing the game I love to play.”

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, is actually in danger of being cut from the 53-man roster, so it would obviously behoove him to play on Thursday evening.

In 27 games and seven starts since entering the league two years ago, Charlton has tallied just four sacks.
