The Dallas Cowboys have been on a roll over the last several weeks. Now that they are in position to win the NFC East, running back Ezekiel Elliott has his sights set on the NFL rushing title.

Elliott finds himself in familiar territory among the league's rushing leaders down the final stretch of the 2018 NFL season. According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, he admitted that winning the rushing title would mean a lot to him.

“I would say that’s important to me,” Elliott said. “Yeah, it would be cool. But I want to go out here and win ball games. I want to make a run deep into the playoffs. I want to have an opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl, so I mean, I’m just going to keep working and whatever happens, happens.

“You’ve got to let things like that handle themselves and things will work out.”

Elliott won the rushing title after a spectacular rookie year. He was unable to follow up on his stellar season after being suspended six games. It is clear that he has set the bar high for himself this season. Fortunately, he has been able to follow through on expectations.

The Cowboys' running back has registered 1,262 yards and six touchdowns on 268 carries thus far in the 2018 campaign. His yards are second to only Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley. Perhaps even more impressive is that he was able to put up numbers despite the abysmal start to the year by the offense.

Elliott is just 57 yards shy of tying Gurley thanks to the latter's lackluster outing in Week 14. While it may seem like a tall task, it is certainly feasible over the last three games.
