The contract conundrum between the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott has been a constant topic in recent seasons. With Prescott looking for a long-term deal this offseason, NFL Network's Jane Slater went on “The Dan Patrick Show” to report that Prescott is seeking a contract in the same ballpark as Patrick Mahomes.

See for yourself:

Of course, Slater's report could be inaccurate as we have yet to see or hear what Dak Prescott's asking price is. As for the Cowboys, they've offered him multiple contracts in the past two years, only for Prescott's camp to turn them down, which has definitely worked in their favor.

The market for quarterbacks has increased exponentially in recent seasons, with guys like Mahomes and Deshaun Watson setting the bar high. Mahomes was given a historic 10-year contract that averages about $45 million per year, while Watson was recently given $39 million per year before his relationship with the Houston Texans fell apart.

It is evident that Prescott's camp realizes just how valuable he is to this Cowboys team. While they understand his value, they also seem to realize that it's unlikely they can garner more or even the same number that Mahomes got from the Kansas City Chiefs.

In light of that, it is uncertain if Prescott is looking to get a contract that surpasses Watson's deal or a deal that nets him over $40 million per year. Regardless of whether or not Slater's report is true, Jerry Jones is going to have to shell out quite a lot of money if he wants to secure Dak Prescott for the long haul this offseason.
