The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2021-2022 season as the top seed in the NFC East.  However, that doesn't mean much for Dallas. The NFC East, commonly referred to as the “NFC Least,” is arguably the easiest division to win.

They've spent the last six seasons with Dak Prescott at play-caller, aiming to win their first Super Bowl championship since 1995-1996. So far, nothing has come to fruition, despite huge expectations from the team.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Cowboys have three picks within the top 100 overall. With multiple picks relatively early on, they have a great chance to capitalize on the potential of the 2022 draft class. Will the Boys engage in a complete rebuild, or pick up players to compliment their starters? Here are our three boldest predictions for the Cowboys in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Cowboys Predictions for the 2022 NFL Draft

3. 24th Overall Pick – Zion Johnson

The Cowboys have one first-round pick in the upcoming draft, 24th overall. Although it's not one of the top picks, this slot gives Dallas a perfect opportunity to pick up Zion Johnson.

Johnson is an offensive guard from Boston College. The 6'3, 316lb senior would be the perfect fit for the Cowboys offensive line. Dallas lost two core pieces of their interior line in the 2022 NFL Free Agency. Offensive tackle La'el Collins joined the Cincinnati Bengals, and guard Connor Williams is headed to the Miami Dolphins.

Expect the Cowboys to prioritize the open vacancies on their OL in the upcoming draft, and expect them to pick up Johnson in the first round.

2. Draft a quarterback

If the Cowboys don't go the offensive line route in the first round, expect them to pick up a quarterback at 24th instead. The team has spent six seasons working with Dak Prescott as their starter.

They selected Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and he quickly became Dallas' franchise quarterback. However, after six years and no championship or largely successful postseason, it might be time to move on.

There are enough quarterbacks available in this year's draft class that at least one will fall to 24th overall. Also, many of the teams ahead of the Cowboys in the draft are not looking for a new play-caller. Don't be surprised if Dallas picks one up with one of their first three picks.

1. Trade up for more leverage

Finally, our boldest prediction yet: the Cowboys trade their third and fourth-round picks for either a late first-round pick or an early second-round pick. While it's not extremely common, this is a great way for teams to butt in line and scoop players out from underneath their opponents.

If the Cowboys are serious about making a solid playoff run in the 2022-2023 NFL season, they have to start making big moves. Expect Dallas to gain another early pick in exchange for their 88th and 129th overall picks. Who knows, they might even snatch up a better quarterback this way.
