The Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins have taken their rivalry to free agency as they compete in the same talent pool of players. It seems neither side plans on relenting any time soon. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Redskins and Cowboys are among the teams interested in free-agent cornerback Desmond Trufant:
Veteran CB Desmond Trufant, released by Falcons earlier this week, drawing interest from Washington, Dallas, a few others. Most likely looking for a multi-year deal.
This is not the first time that both teams had been tied to the same player. Dallas won the first round after wide receiver Amari Cooper reportedly turned down a bigger offer from Washington in order to re-sign. The latter is now hoping to strike back by bringing in Desmond Trufant.

Meanwhile, the Redskins parted ways with cornerback Josh Norman following a tumultuous 2019 NFL season.
As a result, both teams now have a rather notable void to fill in the secondary. A player of Desmond Trufant's caliber would undoubtedly provide a major boost to their efforts this offseason. The veteran was in the midst of another solid 2019 campaign with 18 tackles, 7 passes defended, and a career-high four interceptions before a broken forearm in Week 14 ended his season.
Regardless, Trufant is still more than capable of serving as a stabilizing factor for any secondary in need of a b bonafide starter. It will be interesting to see which team prevails this time around.
