With the Dallas Cowboys not giving Jason Garrett a coaching extension, it has made some wonder if that leaves the door open to New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton taking over the job in the Lonestar State soon.

Payton has heard all the rumors about him maybe going one state over to coach and the only thing he can do is laugh about the rumors.

“It's come up before, and mainly because I worked there for three years and have a good relationship with Jerry [Jones] and Stephen [Jones],” Payton told ESPN Radio, via Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. “It doesn't surface very year. It comes up every two or three years, but I'm in Year 13 now [with the Saints]. You kind of chuckle with it and you just move on from it. I've got a home here [in New Orleans].

It would make sense for the Cowboys to try and go after Payton if he decided to move on from Garrett, but it appears right now Payton isn't listening.

Things can change and money can talk and as nice of a job as the Saints are right now, after Drew Brees is gone it might not be that appealing and maybe he could jump ship for the better waters.

Payton signed a five-year extension in 2016 with the Saints, so if Jerry Jones is going to have any chance to convince him to go to the other side, it's probably going to need to be a big number followed by a lot of zeros.
