CeeDee Lamb knows the Dallas Cowboys need some help on offense in the NFL Draft to make a push toward the playoffs next season. Despite managing to retain quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper for next season and potentially beyond, the team's core was unable to get Dallas to the postseason in 2019 despite the Cowboys playing in the worst division in the entire NFL.
Because the Cowboys simply cannot trot the exact same team out there again next season while expecting a different outcome, Dallas should seriously consider trading up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
It is no secret that Lamb is one of the top three pass catchers in this year's NFL Draft class alongside the tandem of former Alabama standouts Jeudy and Henrry Ruggs III. However, it is entirely possible that Lamb is actually the most complete player of the three and could no doubt make an immediate impact for the Cowboys as a rookie in 2020.
Possessing the ability to make a difference all over the field whether it is via the deep ball or over the middle, the aforementioned Prescott would be able to rely on Lamb right off the bat, which is something that the Cowboys' offense could desperately use heading into next season. Because Cooper will garner the majority of double teams thrown Dallas' way with the team's No. 2 wide receiver Michael Gallup slated to receive a massive workload as it stands today, Lamb could very well become the difference maker that the Cowboys have sorely missed over the course of the last several seasons.
With Cooper encountering a mega five-year, $100 free agent contract this past offseason, a lot will surely be asked of him going forward. Because the tandem of Cooper and Gallup are simply not enough to get it done for the Cowboys in the NFC East, even if both have stellar seasons, Lamb might be the missing piece to the puzzle.
Outside of both Cooper, who Dallas originally acquired from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a first round pick, and Gallup, a former second rounder from Colorado State, the Cowboys are extremely thin at the wide receiver position. Cedrick Wilson, Tevin Jones, Ventell Bryant, Devin Smith and Noah Brown are presently behind the aforementioned duo on the Cowboys depth chart as it stands today, which is obviously not the answer.
Because Gallup will receive his first time to shine as a true No. 2 receiver with the Cowboys in 2020, it remains to be seen as to how he performs under a little more pressure. On the other hand, Cooper will obviously be under the gun as well, thanks to the huge free agent contract now hanging over his head.
CeeDee Lamb needs to be brought in to supplement the wide receiver room for the Cowboys.
