NFL fans around the globe are in for a treat in Week 1. The Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders will square off against each other, which means we will be getting a matchup of Antonio Brown against Chris Harris.

The Broncos cornerback has said he is ready to cover Brown in Week 1 if he gets the opportunity to. Harris was not hesitant to say he wants the responsibility of covering the All-Pro wide receiver to kick off the season.

“We have guys that are very flexible, that can play everywhere,” Harris said of Denver’s secondary after practice on May 29th, per Broncos Wire. “Guys that are smart. I want to take the pressure off of them. If they need me to put me on ‘AB’ Week 1, I’m ready for that.”

The Broncos have one of the best cornerback groups in the NFL with Kareem Jackson, Bryce Callahan, and Harris. This offseason, Denver signed both Jackson and Callahan while also giving Harris a new deal for the 2019 season.

The 29-year-old Harris has been one of the most consistent cornerbacks in the NFL since being signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2011.

The All-Pro cornerback is heading into a contract year with Denver and will need to perform at a high level if he hopes to land a lucrative long-term deal from the team with which he hopes to retire. Slowing down a receiver as talented as Brown in Week 1 could begin to up the price for the veteran cornerback.
