The Denver Broncos desperately needed a head coach to help them contend for the playoffs. Their offense lacked bite and failed to keep up with the defense and resulted in the firing of former offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello. In order to sort that issue, they're looking to hire former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur for the position.

This piece of news brings good news Broncos fans as they know they have the talent to at least compete for playoff positions next season. Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported the hiring.

This move is a brilliant acquisition on the part of John Elway as Shurmur is widely considered to be one of the better offensive minds throughout the NFL. While he hasn't been exactly effective in the two times he's been named the head coach of a team, he's shown more than enough quality to be considered as one of the top offensive coordinators in the league.

One of the likely reasons why he's considered a favorite among NFL circles is the fact that he has the potential to help young quarterbacks develop to a decent level. He was able to get a decent result out of Daniel Jones in his only year with him. The Broncos also have a promising young rookie in Josh Allen who could use a bit of coaching from a veteran coach like Shurmur.

The next season promises to be a great one for the Broncos if Pat Shurmur manages to make his impact on the team. It may take a while, but Shurmur can help the Broncos return to the Super Bowl.
