New Denver Broncos teammates Melvin Gordon and Drew Lock are reportedly set to play in a Madden NFL 20 tournament, with the NFL following in the footsteps of the NBA and MLB by having players compete in the virtual world.

Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock and running back Melvin Gordon are set to participate in a celebrity Madden tournament, according to a bracket posted on Instagram by MMA fighter Chris Weidman.

Because they are on opposite sides of the bracket, there’s a chance that Lock and Gordon could face each other in the championship game.

It’s unclear if the tournament will be streamed or broadcast on television.

Both players will have something to prove on the real gridiron this year.

The Broncos all but guaranteed Lock would be their starting quarterback going forward after he went 4-1 in five starts last season. Lock only averaged 6.5 yards gained per pass attempt, but he completed over 64 percent of his passes and had a 4.5 percent touchdown rate.

Meanwhile, Gordon is hoping to prove he is still an elite running back.

Gordon's holdout was unsuccessful last season, and he was mostly underwhelming once he returned for the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Broncos still saw fit to sign Gordon to a two-year deal despite already having Phillip Lindsay in the backfield. Still, they will give the two-time Pro Bowler a chance to earn his share of carries and return to form.

Before they look to exceed expectations on the field, however, Lock and Gordon will hope to represent their club on the sticks.
