Everybody knows how the Denver Broncos franchise is up for sale and a bidding war has ensued. The price for sports teams has significantly skyrocketed over the years, but it seems Denver is going to receive a historic offer. We'll see how it plays out, as nothing is finalized just yet, but it appears a sale may come to fruition in the coming days.

According to Forbes, Rob Walton, an heir to the Walmart fortune, “will win the bidding for the Denver Broncos at about $4.5 billion.” If this is true, then this will be the highest price a sports franchise has ever been sold for. “It’s not a vanity play for the 77-year-old Walton, who Forbes estimates is worth $59.1 billion, but rather a purchase that could place the team in his family’s hands for generations.”

Even though Forbes is reporting that the Broncos will be sold for $4.5 billion, it appears these findings may be premature, per Troy Renck. In fact, the bids have yet to be submitted as they will be later on Monday. Even so, Renck claims that Rob Walton is the favorite heading into the second-round bids for the Denver franchise.

Adam Schefter backs Troy Renck with his reporting as well. So, with that in mind, it's not a guarantee that Rob Walton is the winning bidder for the Broncos. However, the expected $4.5 billion offer may be enough for a sale to finalize.

If the Broncos can acquire such a historic offer, then what are big-market teams going to be worth? It's believed the Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable franchise in the NFL. Additionally, teams like the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, and New York Jets are all playing in the biggest markets available. If Denver can fetch $4.5 billion, then what are these teams worth in an open market?

Either way, keep a close eye on the Denver Broncos, as it sounds like the franchise will be sold relatively soon.
