Last season there was a lot of speculation about Peyton Manning could possibly take a TV gig as an announcer for NFL games. However, the reports were that he was continuously rejecting them. Although many had a strong speculation as to what was causing it, nothing was ever confirmed – until now.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Manning admitted what most people believed. Manning isn't interested in announcing because of his brother – and others he's played with and become friends with.
Announcing is meant to be an unbiased gig. It's also supposed to be something where you point out the good as well as the bad done by teams, coaches, players, and refs.
Manning simply doesn't think he can do that – and you can't blame him. Would you really want to go on National Television and insult something your brother did? Or someone you played with for multiple years? What about the coach who helped you when you were first entering the NFL?

Yes, everyone wants to see Peyton Manning in the announcer's booth. He's a fantastic personality who brings intelligence and a ton of fun to the conversation whenever he talks. However, he's got a great reason for why he doesn't want to be in the booth just yet.
Maybe we'll be blessed with Peyton Manning in the announcer's booth in a few years. Once his brother and all his friends retire, maybe he'll feel comfortable then – we can only hope so at least.
