For the first time in his NFL career, Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry will hit the free agent market.

Although he has a desire to return to the Dolphins on a new contract, the 25-year-old's agent made it clear that his client has no interest in taking a discount to return to the franchise, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

“How long has this franchise been around?” Damarius Bilbo said. “It’s always going to be here. Take a discount? Absolutely not. This may be Jarvis’ first and last time to set himself up and his family up. He needs to strike and strike while the iron is hot. Plenty of guys that were drafted ahead of Jarvis have not performed to his level. Look at Jarvis’ performance level. If you want to compare him to the T.Y. Hiltons and the Doug Baldwins, those deals were done two or three years ago. It’s his time now. He’s next man up.”

Landry is coming off rookie contract that spanned over four seasons, paying $3.4 million. Understandably, he has zero interest in taking anything less than what he could land on the open market. His stock was boosted by arguably his best season in 2017, posting a career-high 112 receptions for 987 receiving yards along with a career-best nine touchdowns. He also set the franchise record for most catches in a single season, topping the previous mark he set back 2015 with 110 receptions.

Landry's performance earned him his third straight Pro Bowl selection, which made him only the fourth player in Dolphins history to get Pro Bowl nods in at least three consecutive seasons, joining Paul Warfield, Mark Duper, and Mark Clayton. He is also one of just eight receivers in team history to earn a Pro Bowl selection, and he set the NFL mark with 400 catches over his first four years.

Given everything stated above, Landry could easily look elsewhere in free agency if the Dolphins don't hit the bank.
