Now here is a cause that will not divide the nation.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long is donating all his game checks for the remaining 10 games of the NFL regular season to charitable institutions that focus on education. The veteran announced his decision to empty his pocket in the name of charity on Twitter on Wednesday, detailing his pledge.

This is quite a sacrifice for Long, who already donated his first six game checks this season to provide scholarships in Charlottesville, Virginia, meaning that his entire salary for the season has been donated to various causes.

The said 10 game checks will be spread across four organizations based in the three cities Long has played in so far in his career: Philadelphia, Boston, and St. Louis.

Long’s philanthropy means that he’s not taking his status as a well-paid pro-athlete for granted. While other players would rant about being “underpaid” despite making tens of millions of dollars, Long showed altruism rare in today’s breed of athletes.

Even though Long basically gave away his $1 million salary this season, he’s still going to make a ton of money in the future, as he’s set to receive $7.750 million more until 2021 over the course of his contract, per Spotrac.com.
