The Philadelphia Eagles face a dilemma. Next year, who should be their starting quarterback? Playoff legend Nick Foles or their younger quarterback of the future, Carson Wentz.
BetOnline.ag has put the odds at -300 for Carson Wentz and +200 for Nick Foles to get the starting spot. Though Foles has carried the team over the final weeks of the season, Wentz is likely who they'll go with moving forward.
Foles has a $20 million player option that the team will have to decide to tender a week after the Super Bowl occurs, per Spotrac. It's highly likely that the team will let Foles walk and make money somewhere else as their starting quarterback.
In the five games he started in the regular season, Foles had a record of 4-1. He threw for 1,413 yards with seven touchdowns and only four interceptions. His completion percentage was a very high 72.3 percent while his quarterback rating was a solid 69.5. He pulled the Eagles back into playoff contention.
He came into the Wild Card round and played a spectacular game against the NFL's best defense in the Chicago Bears. He threw for 266 yards with two touchdowns and only gave up two interceptions. He led the team to victory and played exceptionally well under the duress of the Bear's lethal pass rush.
Wentz on the season showed flashes but was inconsistent at times. Over 11 games, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards with 21 touchdowns and only gave up seven interceptions. His completion percentage sat at 69.6 percent and his quarterback rating at 64.9.
The Eagles will face off next against the New Orleans Saints in an NFC Divisional round.
