The New York Giants have made several internal changes since the decision to fire head coach Ben McAdoo in early December.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Giants are expected to make Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur their next head coach in coming days.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise as earlier this week it had been reported that Shurmur was the favorite to land the job. All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. also chimed in on the situation voicing his excitement for what could lie ahead under Shurmur.

The 52-year-old just wrapped up his first season as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator helping put together one of the top league's top scoring offenses. They rank 10th with 23.9 points per game, seventh with 122.3 per yards contest, and 11th with 234.6 yards per game. He has earned much recognition around the league as being one of the best offensive minds.

This will mark his second head coaching opportunity as he previously spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns where he compiled a 9-23 record over that span. Shurmur will have the task of taking control of the Giants offense with former Pro Bowl quarterback Eli Manning expected to remain with the team next season.

Manning is coming off a campaign where he experienced a dropoff in his play posting just 3,468 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Shurmur will also have the opportunity to work with one of the league's most dynamic wide receivers in Beckham Jr. He is on pace to recover from a broken ankle by training camp for next season. Beckham Jr. will likely be the primary fixture of the offense in the passing game under Shurmur.

The hire will likely take place midway through this week as everything gets settled down from the Vikings' crushing loss in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday night.
