Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2019 NFL season looking to get everything back on track. After missing out on the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, the proud franchise made big moves this offseason to improve enough to compete for a Super Bowl appearance in 2019.
Not only did the Packers make a coaching change from Mike McCarthy to offensive guru Matt LaFleur, general manager Brian Gutekunst was very aggressive in free agency.
The team went out and signed two major free agent pass rushers in Preston and Za'Darius Smith. They also signed former Chicago Bears safety Adrian Amos to beef up their secondary. Billy Turner was an addition for the offensive line and was a bargain in free agency.
In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Packers were able to pick up two defensive playmakers. Both Rashan Gary and Darnell Savage have the chance to be major role players in their rookie seasons.
Green Bay will have a tough task getting back into the playoffs. They have a lot more talent, but they have a very tough schedule as well. Let's look at the three most important games on the Packers' schedule for the upcoming season.
3. Week 1 at the Chicago Bears
Right off the bat, the Packers are going to find out a little bit about what they're made out of. Heading to Chicago to take on the defending NFC North champion Bears is not going to be easy.
Rodgers and the Packers were able to come back to defeat the Bears last year in Week 1 despite a major knee injury for the star quarterback. Chicago is expected to be the top team in the division by many, but the Packers will have a chance to set the tone early. This game is a very important game to start the year.

Next up, the Packers are going to have to hit the road for some tough games this year against AFC opponents. Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers are a deadly football team. Beating them in L.A. is going to be an even bigger task.
From an offensive standpoint, Green Bay should be able to hang with the Chargers. Defensively, this is going to be a major test for Mike Pettine and company. If they play up to their talent and potential, the Packers should win this game, but it will be a major test.
1. Week 8 at the Kansas City Chiefs
Finally, the biggest game of the season for Green Bay will come on Sunday Night Football in Week 8 against the Chiefs on the road. Kansas City was one of the best teams in the NFL last year and their offense was lethal. They narrowly missed the Super Bowl, losing to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes are going to be fun to watch going up against each other. Green Bay and Kansas City both added to their defense this season and whoever made the biggest improvement on that side of the football might be what makes the difference.
