Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers entered the 2019 NFL Draft looking to make some moves that would help improve their defense and provide depth at much-needed positions. That became clear immediately in the first round when the team took Rashan Gary with the No. 12 overall pick and then traded up from No. 30 to No. 21 to select Darnell Savage Jr.

Both players are expected to be immediate impact players and the Packers could not be happier to have gotten them.

After missing the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, the Packers have been aggressive this offseason. Green Bay is known for winning and they are not going to sit back and allow the losing to continue.

The NFL Draft is never a guarantee. None of these players have played against the type of competition that they are about to face. Despite that fact, the Packers have to feel very good about the group of young players that they brought in.

New head coach Matt LaFleur has to be excited about his roster. Mike Pettine, the team's defensive coordinator, has to be even more excited with all the talent that the Packers brought in to bolster their defense.

Let's dive in and take a look at four things that can be taken away from the 2019 NFL Draft for the Packers.

Rashan Gary, Packers

4. The Packers Want Athleticism and Physicality

Every single pick that the Packers made came with athleticism and physicality. Starting with Gary and ending with Ty Summers, all of their picks are going to take the field and give everything they have with excellent physical attributes. Green Bay has had a lot of middle-of-the-pack athletes over the years, but that won't be the case with the new front office in place.

3. Green Bay Is Willing to Take a Risk on Raw Talent

This takeaway has everything to do with the No. 12 overall selection. Gary did not produce big numbers during his collegiate career at Michigan, but if he reaches his full potential, he is going to be a superstar. Gutekunst is not scared of developing players and that showed in a big way this year.

Darnell Savage, Packers, Adrian Amos

2. They Are Confident with Their Current Offense

Many thought that the Packers would be aggressive in their search for more weapons for Aaron Rodgers. That didn't end up being the case, although the team did take Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger and Notre Dame running back Dexter Williams. Outside of those two picks, the Packers went mostly defense, which signals confidence in the way their offense currently stands.

1. The Packers' Defense Is Going to Be WAY Better

Green Bay has relied on Rodgers and the offense to put up huge numbers far too much over the years. That won't be the case anymore, as the Packers went out and brought in a ton of new defensive talent in free agency and the draft. New defenders like Preston and Za'Darius Smith, Adrian Amos, Rashan Gary, and Darnell Savage are going to make the defense much more dangerous and capable of making plays.

Expect to see the Packers get back to playoff contention. It has been a rough couple of seasons, but the front office attacked things perfectly this offseason and are ready to turn things around.
