The Green Bay Packers are heading into the second week of the 2019 NFL season with a 1-0 record after a huge victory over the Chicago Bears last Thursday. This week, they will face another bitter NFC North rival against the Minnesota Vikings. It's a big game for both teams, especially for Green Bay.
After two straight seasons of missing the playoffs, the Packers went into the offseason with an aggressive mindset. Brian Gutekunst spent big money in free agency and they also made some very good draft picks.
Preston and Za'Darius Smith were signed to beef up the pass rush, while Adrian Amos was signed away from the Bears to help out in the secondary. Both Darnell Savage and Rashan Gary were drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. It was an offseason of good change for Green Bay.
Beating the Bears in Week 1 sent a message to the rest of the NFC that the Packers were a team to be reckoned with. If they can knock off the Vikings as well, they would be sending another message, this time to the NFC North that they are a contender once again.
All of that being said, let's take a look at four bold predictions for the Packers this week against the Vikings.
4. Green Bay Racks Up Six Sacks
Mike Pettine has the potential to be one of the top defensive coordinators in the NFL once again. He showed that potential against Chicago, holding the Bears to just three points.
Green Bay gave Pettine the kind of personnel that he needs to run his defensive system. He has speed, athleticism, and strength where he needs it. That will show again this week, with the Packers racking up six sacks throughout the game and keeping Kirk Cousins on his toes.
3. Aaron Rodgers Breaks Out With 275 Yards, Three Touchdowns
The Packers are hoping to see a much better version of Aaron Rodgers this week. He completed 18 of his 30 pass attempts for 203 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions last week. Minnesota has a good defense as well, which has many fans tempering their expectations for him in Week 2.
Rodgers will break out with a big performance. Even though the Vikings have a talented secondary, Rodgers will throw for 275 yards and three touchdowns.

Being able to draft Darnell Savage at No. 21 overall in the NFL Draft was a massive get for the Packers. He has stepped in as an immediate starter and made a solid impact in Week 1.
Savage will come through with another big performance this week and will reach a milestone. Cousins is a good quarterback, but he makes mistakes when the pressure is on. That will be the case this week and the rookie safety will record his first career interception.
1. The Packers Pull Off a Close Win
Finally, Green Bay is a good football team and they are going to prove that they are legitimate playoff contenders this season. Many have taken notice of them after their win over the Bears. That will escalate even more after a big win this week over the Vikings.
It is going to be a very close and hard-fought game, but the Packers are going to get the win. Rodgers and company will make just enough plays to move to 2-0.
