David Bakhtiari is just 27 years old. The four-year, $48 million extension he signed with the Green Bay Packers in the spring of 2016 contains an opt-out clause following the 2019 season. And earlier this month, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the top offensive lineman in the NFL.

Needless to say, a payday is likely in Bakhtiari's near future. Just how much money might he command from the Packers come next year's offseason? Bleacher Report's Chris Roling sees Bakhtiari signing a contract comparable to the one Taylor Lewan signed with the Tennessee Titans last summer.

“[Bakhtiari] now play a key role in making sure a new coaching staff's vision gets executed properly, so the Green Bay front office won't be afraid to open up the checkbooks and throw Taylor Lewan-esque guarantees ($50 million) at him.”

Lewan signed a five-year, $80 million extension with the Tennessee Titans in July 2018, a deal that includes $50 million worth of guaranteed money. The three-time Pro Bowler is the highest-paid offensive lineman in league history.

Bakhtiari was named First Team All-Pro last season despite Green Bay surrendering 53 sacks, third-most in the league. Pro Football Focus rated him as the league’s second-best offensive lineman, too, giving him an 87.3 overall grade. It was pass protection, though, where Bakhtiari fared best, grading out at a top-ranked 92.3. He also finished 91st in the NFL Top 100, a list of the league’s top players as voted on by their peers.

In February, Packers franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers showered Bakhtiari with praise, calling him an “incredible player” with “Hall of Fame potential.”
