The Green Bay Packers have reportedly requested permission to interview New Orleans Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell for their head coaching position.

Green Bay finished a disappointing regular season on Sunday with a 31-0 loss to the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, which pretty much summed up the type of year it has been for the franchise.

After firing former head coach Mike McCarthy, there have been plenty of unknowns surrounding who will eventually take over on the sidelines.

And now that the season is over, there are several candidates that are starting to emerge.

One name on the Packers' list is Campbell, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Campbell, who spent 10 years in the league as a player, has had various coaching roles since entering the profession eight years ago.

He spent five years with the Miami Dolphins before joining the Saints as both the associate head coach and tight ends coach in 2016. He went 5-7 as the Dolphins' interim head coach in 2015, which is the only head coaching experience he's had to this point.

There's no doubt that the Green Bay job is going to involve a variety of candidates, as it is certainly expected to be one of the best jobs available.

And, with Aaron Rodgers still under center, it shouldn't be too hard to find a coach that wants to work with one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.

With a talented roster in place, the Packers need to find the right fit in order to become a Super Bowl contender once again.
