The Green Bay Packers have a notoriously die-hard fanbase, but according to a new report from Forbes, they might also be the NFL’s best group of fans. According to their yearly look at the best fans in the league, the Packers fanbase once again tops the chart, coming in at the number one spot for the third year in a row.
The ranking of fans doesn’t go by rowdiest or best team, however, and is instead ranked by a handful of quantitive metrics. These metrics include hometown crowd reach, population that watched, attended, or listened to a game, local television ratings, stadium attendance based on capacity reached, secondary ticket demand, merchandise sales, and social media reach.
With all of these things accounted for, Forbes also used three years of television, stadium attendance, and merchandise sales to consider the inclusion of “bandwagon” fans. With that in mind, Forbes once again found that Packers fans “blow all other bases out of the water.” Between Facebook and Twitter, the Packers boast 7.5 million followers, which is more than the population of the entire state of Wisconsin. Needless to say, Packers fans are extremely loyal to their team, and it shows in every way.
