Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has confirmed wide receiver Randall Cobb will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Detroit Lions, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

This will be the second game in a row Cobb will miss due to his recent hamstring injury. He was also ruled out for last week’s 22-0 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Cobb, 28, is the Packers’ most experienced receiver. In three games this season, he has 17 catches for 194 yards and one touchdown. He struggled mightily in his last game against the Washington Redskins, where he had just four catches on 11 targets and also committed a costly turnover.

Still, Cobb’s absence is a tough blow for the Packers, who are also dealing with concerning injuries to their other two top wide receivers, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison.

Per McCarthy, Adams will practice on Saturday after missing Thursday’s session due to a calf injury, which is at least some promising news for his status on Sunday. Meanwhile, the team is still hopeful Allison can clear the concussion protocol in time to play against the Lions.

If either or both of those two join Cobb on the sidelines, the Packers will have to rely on the rookie trio of Equanimeous St. Brown, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and J’Mon Moore to be quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ major receiving targets against the Lions.

McCarthy has also hinted that running back Ty Montgomery, a former wide receiver, could also get moved out in that position to make up for the Packers’ injury concerns.
