Football social media exploded on Thursday morning when a suspect report circulated suggesting the San Francisco 49ers made a Godfather offer for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
That report was debunked. The interest in Rodgers, however, appears to be real.
Jay Glazer of FOX NFL Sunday followed all that up by saying āa few teamsā have indeed called the Packers about acquiring Rodgers.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network also reported the 49ers did in fact inquire as to Rodgers' availability, but āno formal offerā was made.Ā Pelissero says there is a āzero percent chanceā the Packers trade Rodgers.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in football, if not the best. He has openly spoken on the uncertainty surrounding his future in Green Bay, and the Packers have yet to finalize an extension with their franchise signal-caller. Of course teams would make overtures.
That said, it is hardly shocking the Packers have no intention of trading Rodgers. General manager Brian Gutekunst said earlier this week A-Rod would be under center in Green Bay for the foreseeable future. It's still possible an extension gets done sometime before the season, though there has been little noise on that front.
Regardless, the Packers are not going to simply give away their chances of winning a Super Bowl in 2021. Rodgers isĀ theĀ centerpiece of a franchise that has made it to consecutive NFC Championship Games and is coming off perhaps the best individual season of his career.
