The Green Bay Packers are still in the playoff race, but it's never too early to consider what the team would look like next season. The team has started to move towards that direction by signing a wide receiver who was one of the Canadien Football League's brightest stars.

The Packers announced on Monday that they had tied Reggie Begelton to a future contract. The wideout, who will be 27 by the time the 2020 season begins, will be a part of the roster and will bolster a receiving corps that can be ineffective at times.

The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver was a standout for Lamar University in college. While he didn't impress NFL scouts enough to get an invite, he did thrive elsewhere. He moved up the border and played his football in the CFL, where he immediately stood out as one of the most exciting players in the league.

His entire professional career so far was played with the Calgary Stampeders. In his final campaign for the team, he managed to notch career highs in receptions (102), receiving yards (1,444), and receiving touchdowns (10). It was after this impressive run that the Packers took notice of the CFL All-Star's talents and asked around for his availability.

The Stampeders subsequently released him from his contract so he can pursue his dream of becoming an NFL receiver. He is more than happy that he's allowed to prove his stuff on the biggest stage in the sport.

First off, all the Glory to God,” Begelton began in his tweet. “Second, Green Bay is that you? Yes! Yes it is. You Cheesehead lovers. I’m happy to be apart of the family moving forward.”

Besides him, fullback Elijah Wellman also got a contract.
