Brian Gaine, who was recently fired by the Houston Texans, evidently targeted African Americans to be fired according to a complaint filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. According to a Texans spokesperson, the allegations didn't have any effect on the firing of Gaine just last week.
“We have just been made aware of Mr. Pope’s claim,” Palcic said via USA Today. “We do not comment on pending litigation. The Houston Texans do not tolerate personal or professional discrimination of any kind.”
Jeff Pope, who was fired on May 8th, made a series of allegations against Gaine including that he targeted African Americans with his firing.
“It appeared, and I believe, that he was targeting all minorities in leadership positions and was set to replace them with non-African-Americans. Which he did,” Pope wrote in the complaint.
According to Pope, he first realized that African-Americans were being targeted when he was talked to about eating in the player's cafeteria, something he had done since he was hired in 2017.
“In short, every African American in the building understood that not too many of us could congregate or be seen interacting with each other even during lunch because it did not look good to the powers that be,” Pope alleged.
The reason Pope was given for being let go was the lack of law enforcement in his background but he believes the real reason was his race.
The claims will be looked into by the EEOC who will make a recommendation on what to do next. These are some serious allegations and there is n doubt the NFL will also get involved.
