The Houston Texans missed a big opportunity to take control of the AFC South division on Sunday, falling to the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 30-23 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Afterward, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson stressed that the team needs to maintain a positive attitude moving forward:
“We can’t get frustrated,” Watson said, according to Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' team website. “We can’t get discouraged. We have to keep a positive energy and stay motivated. Like I said, anything can happen. This is the NFL. It’s a new week every week.”
Watson had a relatively rough outing in the loss, completing 23 of his 34 passes for 308 yards, a touchdown and a couple of interceptions, marking the second straight week he threw two picks as opposed to just one touchdown.
“We just have to keep going and keep being patient,” added Watson. “That’s what we did last week and this week we tried to. It was just a little too late.”
On the season overall, Watson has thrown for 1,952 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 104.1.
Much like Houston's club as a whole, Watson has been very much up and down this season, with a huge chunk of his production coming in the Texans' Week 5 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in which he went 28-for-33 with 426 yards and five touchdowns.
Watson also had two games without a touchdown pass over his first four weeks.
Houston is now 4-3 and will take on the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
