Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson remains the subject of trade rumors, even as the organization has remained adamant that he will stay with the team. The team has had a lot of turnover, with high-ranking members of the organization stepping down and the team releasing defensive end J.J. Watt.

Texans owner Cal McNair also stressed that Watson is a Texan despite rumors of a potential deal with another team, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, McNair said there has been a lot of “misinformation” regarding the three-time Pro Bowler’s status with the team:

McNair did not elaborate on this “misinformation” surrounding Watson, but added that he expects Watson to remain with Houston and that the team is looking forward to having him back for the 2021 season. This comes even after several teams have already inquired about potentially acquiring the services of the 25-year old signal-caller. The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins have been rumored as preferred destinations for the quarterback.

Watson is coming off another brilliant individual season, completing 70.2% of his passes for a league-leading 4,823 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The Texans, however, finished with a 4-12 record and missed the postseason after consecutive playoff appearances in the last couple of years.

Last month, it was reported that McNair privately apologized to Watson for the organization’s dysfunction and for not including him in the hiring process for a new general manager and head coach. Watson was apparently upset with not being consulted on the big moves.

Despite the rumors regarding Watson’s departure, it is clear McNair and the Texans organization are still determined to fix the relationship with the franchise quarterback. New general manager Nick Caserio and recently hired head coach David Culley have both offered up similar sentiments about Watson's status with the team.
