On Monday, former Houston Texans head coach Romeo Crennel, who served as the team's interim head coach during the 2020 season, announced his retirement from coaching. Crennel, who spent 50 seasons as a coach in the NFL, clearly left an impact on many players over the years. One such player is All-Pro defensive end JJ Watt. Watt, who currently plays for the Arizona Cardinals, reacted to the news of Crennel's retirement via his Twitter account.
Absolute legend of the game and even better man. https://t.co/eaHtpAmFTE

Watt shouted out Crennel, who he called an “absolute legend of the game and an even better man.” The former Texans head coach was also the defensive coordinator for the franchise while Watt was enjoying some of his finest seasons in the NFL.
Crennel, who first started his coaching career in the college ranks in 1970, was a part of five Super Bowl-winning teams, beginning in the 1980s as a special teams coach with the New York Giants.
He then won three more Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, serving as their defensive coordinator. While his head coaching career is certainly one to be proud of, Watt is even more proud of the kind of man that Crennel was.
That's the best kind of retirement message that the former Texans head coach could have hoped to receive.
