Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Houston Texans quarterback Joe Webb suffered a serious foot injury versus the Los Angeles Rams in the preseason finale.
Texans third quarterback Joe Webb injured his right foot and it is considered a serious injury, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Head coach Bill O'Brien did not express much optimism regarding the severity of Webb's injury.

What started off as a promising night for Webb has now resulted in misfortune. He had to be carted off the field and was later seen walking on crutches.
Prior to the injury, Webb had been in the midst of perhaps his best preseason performance yet after completing 19-of-29 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. Although he did throw an interception, he managed to light things up with a 32-yard dash on fourth down during the opening drive. However, he was unable to finish the game after being sacked during the fourth quarter.
Webb had spent training camp and the preseason as the third-string backup behind Deshaun Watson and A.J. McCarron. Fortunately, McCarron appears to be finally healed from a thumb injury he suffered during a joint practice.
Meanwhile, quarterback Jordan Ta'amu had been the one to fill in for Webb the rest of the game. Regardless, Houston is likely confident in moving ahead with McCarron as the backup to start the regular season.
