Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller has spent the offseason nursing a devastating knee injury. Fortunately, he appears to be on track to make his return for the 2019 NFL season.

Fuller suffered a torn ACL during Week 8 of the 2018 NFL season. According to Deepi Sidhu of the team's official website, he is optimistic about his status for the season opener versus the New Orleans Saints.

Gaine says Will Fuller V is anticipated to be ready to go in Week 1 at New Orleans. “Everything is trending in the right direction. Everything is looking good.”

This is undoubtedly an encouraging update from Fuller. Several teams in the AFC have made some substantial changes to their roster this offseason and Houston will need all the help they can get if they hope to meet their high expectations moving forward.

The 25-year-old had finally started to emerge as a bonafide No. 2 option to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. He finished the 2018 campaign with 32 receptions for 503 yards and four touchdowns in seven games as the complementary option in the passing game. His presence was heavily missed by the Texans offense as they failed to find a suitable replacement down the stretch and it ultimately came back to haunt them in the playoffs.

The Texans made quite the investment when they selected Fuller in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Considering all the promise he has shown as a legitimate downfield threat, Houston is likely going to take a cautious approach with his recovery to ensure he is 100 percent by the time the season starts.
