Over the past couple of days, many people have given their take on Andrew Luck's sudden retirement. On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reacted to Luck's retirement.
Andy Reid expanded a bit on Andrew Luck after today's practice:
"He was great for the league, but at the same time, it’s important that he has a life after this. We all love this, but there is life after this, especially for these players with their health."

The keyword in what Reid said was ‘health'. Luck stated in his retirement speech that he was stuck in a cycle of injury, pain, and rehab in the past four years.
The passionate quarterback also added on that due to the injuries; he no longer had the same joy of playing football that he once had. In the end, the best decision was for Luck to walk away from the NFL to protect himself for his life outside of football.
Over the course of his career, Luck has suffered a lacerated kidney, broken ribs, a torn labrum, among other injuries. Most recently, the 29-year gunslinger was dealing with issues to his calf that later affected his ankle.
As a result of his calf issue, Luck was missing training camp and time with the team. It was becoming entirely possible that he was going to miss the beginning of the regular season. Unfortunately, he saw no progress in his recovery and it began to take a toll on him physically and mentally.
Some fans don't realize just how much goes into players taking care of their bodies. The life of an NFL player lasts all 12 months of the year and they put their bodies on the line constantly.
Football is a violent sport and players usually are asked to put their bodies at risk for the good of the team. This time around, Luck is putting his body first but for good reason.
Earlier this offseason, Luck got married and has shared his interests to travel the world.
Following his retirement, hopefully Luck can set out and do what makes him enjoy life again.
