The Indianapolis Colts have a ton of money to spend this offseason. They are expected to be big spenders in free agency so they can get back to the postseason. Indianapolis finished 7-9 and in third place in the AFC South in 2019.

The Colts have a major decision to make under center. When Andrew Luck retired, the Colts were forced to put their trust in Jacoby Brissett. Now, they have to decide if he is their future. This is a team with other holes to fill and positions that need to be upgraded.

Here are two options that the Colts could go after that would help immensely.

2. Brandon Scherff, OL

Scherff is one of the best right guards in the NFL. The former first-round pick of the Washington Redskins just finished the final season of his rookie contract and will be a free agent for the first time. Scherff and the Redskins have not been able to come to terms on a deal. This could allow another team to steal him away and the Colts are a good landing spot.

Quenton Nelson has already become one of the best offensive linemen in the game. Scherff and Nelson would give the Colts a big, fast, and tough line to protect their quarterback and open holes in the run game. Scherff will not come cheap, but he will be worth every penny for a team.

1. Jadeveon Clowney, DE

Clowney is going to be one of the highest paid players in this free agent class. Clowney spent the first five years of his career in Houston playing for one of the Colts' biggest rivals. It would be satisfying for fans in Indy to see Clowney on their side. He is a three-time Pro-Bowl player who is one of the premiere pass rushers in the league.

Clowney spent 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks. He had just three sacks in 13 games, but he began to come on towards the end of the season. There is no denying that Clowney did not have the best 2019, but there are a lot of positives surrounding the former first-round pick.

He is 27 years old with many good years ahead of him. Clowney is a player that requires a lot of attention and will be double-teamed at times. This opens up opportunities for other players to get to the quarterback. The Colts are in need of game-changing players and Clowney is exactly the big name that they need on defense.
