It has been an often arduous and frustrating road back to recovery from shoulder surgery for Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck. The Colts star finally appears to be headed on the right track toward becoming fully healed from the injury that had forced him to miss all of last season.
What has been most telling for the 28-year-old is that he hasn't been experiencing any pain in the surgically-repaired area, which he doesn't believe will ever be coming back, according to Zak Keefer of the Indy Star.
Article Continues Below“It’s gone,” Luck said of the pain that derailed his 2017 season. “The pain is gone and it’s going to stay that way.”
This is a significant step forward for Luck in what has been a promising last few months of the rehab process for him. He hasn't experienced any setbacks and has begun throwing a football once again. Granted, it may have been a bit similar sized ball the fact that he has been tossing one around is an encouraging sign of where he is at physically.
The Colts have much invested in their star quarterback to lead the charge in helping bring the franchise back into the playoff picture after missing the postseason in each of the last three seasons. Luck has been the unquestioned driving force of the franchise has helped make them relevant in the league as potential Super Bowl contender.
Although this is a significant step in the right direction, the organization will continue to take the precautionary approach with the situation given the importance he has their long-term future. When healthy, he has proven to be one of the league's top young quarterbacks that could have the trajectory of holding the title of being the best at his position down the line. These next several weeks will be crucial in cementing his status to start the 2018 season.
