The return of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was spoiled by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL season opener. Regardless, he is just happy to be playing again.

Luck had not played in a regular season game since the final stretch of the 2016 campaign. According to ESPN's Mike Wells, he was admittedly excited to get back on the field:

“Overwhelming, I felt grateful and appreciative to be here,” Luck said. “I was so excited to get to run on the field as a Colt and get to play with T.Y. [Hilton] and Jack [Doyle] and [Adam Vinatieri] and the new guys. It was fun. Then the game got going, and then it’s one play at a time.”

It is easy to see why Luck had been feeling so many emotions. There had been plenty of speculation regarding whether or not he would be able to return to form. He had acknowledged all the criticisms about his status as an elite quarterback. Fortunately, he was finally able to put an end to all the talk.

Luck's return was nothing short of remarkable. He went 39-of-52 for 310 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in his first game back since the lingering shoulder injury. He even put the Colts in a position to win the game before tight end Jack Doyle fumbled the ball with less than a minute remaining. While it was not an ideal ending to his return, his performance was a positive sign moving forward.

While it is encouraging to see Luck back to his old self, it seems nothing has changed for the Colts as a team. They will need to rely on more than just their star quarterback if they plan to compete this year.
