Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck had an elite 2018 season across the board, but one category really stuck out. According to Pro Football Focus Luck had a 118.9 passer rating on play-action passes last year which was 5th best in the league.

Luck was strong at selling the fake handoff which got the defense to bite and give him the split second longer that he needed to make the perfect pass to his receivers. Play action passing wasn't the only place that Luck was elite last season.

3rd down is the money down in the NFL and Luck was one of the best in that pressure situation last year. According to Pro Football Focus Luck had a passer rating of 90.9 on third down which was second best in the league. A lot of third downs are ten yards or longer, so it's impressive that he is able to have even that high of a rating.

These two stats show why the Colts and their fans should have such a positive outlook for the team going forward. Overall Luck had a 98.7 passer rating and completed 67.3 percent of his passes, both of which were career highs.

Luck is now entering his second season under Frank Reich, and the offense should be even better than it was last year. Eric Ebron and TY Hilton are back from last year's squad, and the team also brought in Devin Funchess, and second-round pick Parris Campbell and opposing teams are going to have to decide which of the guys to take away.

It looks like it's going to be another big year for the Luck and Colts, especially if he can be strong again on play action and third down.
