Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has spent his days relatively healthy as of late. It is clear that the Colts are hoping to keep it that way by having him sit out of organized team activities.
Luck has been nursing a calf strain this offseason. According to ESPN's Mike Wells, head coach Frank Reich is taking a cautious approach with his franchise quarterback's health:
Colts coach Frank Reich said QB Andrew Luck will not take part in OTA's this week due to his calf strain. Reich added that Luck could play if they had a game Sunday, but they prefer to let their quarterback get his calf better by resting it.”Just being precautionary there,” Reich said.
The decision by the Colts is certainly understandable considering Luck has already dealt with his fair share of injuries over the last few years. They had taken a cautious approach with his progression last offseason and it ultimately worked out. Although there was plenty of speculation regarding the effects of Luck's lingering shoulder injury, he quickly dispelled any notion of doubt with one of the best seasons of his career.
Luck finished the 2018 campaign with 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions en route to his fourth Pro Bowl. More importantly, he proved that the shoulder is no longer a concern after the offense was able to rely heavily on his arm throughout the season. While it is encouraging to see that he is more than up to the task, his health will still remain a primary concern moving forward.
