Frank Reich took the head coaching job for the Indianapolis Colts this past offseason, but he was not their top choice. One of the most intriguing and stunning stories of the offseason was how Josh McDaniels took the job, then backed out on the deal. Now, the Colts and New England Patriots are set to face off on Thursday night.
In an interview with the Boston Herald, Reich talked about the matchup with McDaniels and made it clear that there is nothing added on top of the game due to McDaniels' situation with the Colts.
“I’ve respected Josh’s career from afar, but never met him personally. Nothing extra there for me, at all, really.”
He also went on to talk about how thankful he is that McDaniels didn't take the job offer and how strange things can be in the business that is the NFL.

Reich and the Colts are viewed as big underdogs heading into their Week 5 matchup with the Patriots. They are 1-3 on the season, although they have had plenty of opportunities to win one or two of those losses.
Andrew Luck has looked decent, although there have been some concerns about his arm strength. The offense as a whole has not been as good as fans were hoping. Defensively, however, the Colts have been playing above what most gave them a chance to achieve.
All of that being said, Reich vs. McDaniels will be an entertaining matchup. There may not be any “extra,” but the rivalry is always intriguing to watch.
