Adam Vinatieri is 46 years old, and the Indianapolis Colts kicker is showing every bit of his age this season.

Vinatieri's latest mishap in what has been a 2019 campaign full of them came against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, in which he missed a 43-yard field goal that would have given the Colts a one-point lead with 1:11 remaining.

Indianapolis ended up losing the game 26-24.

Afterwards, Colts head coach Frank Reich gave his veteran kicker a vote of confidence:

“Still have all the confidence in the world in Adam,” said Reich, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

To be fair to Vinatieri, the snap was bad and the hold was also poor, but due to the fact that he has not had the greatest season in general, the spotlight is falling on him.

“Listen, I gotta make them all,” Vinatieri said. “That’s just part of the deal. It doesn’t matter. You gotta make everything.”

Vinatieri has made just 12 of his 17 field-goal attempts thus far this season and has even missed five extra points.

For a Colts team that is trying to make the playoffs, it might be best to try and replace Vinatieri while they still have the chance, but, of course, that is easier said than done.

Vinatieri is a surefire future Hall-of-Famer who has made countless clutch kicks in his legendary 24-year NFL career, winning three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and another one with the Colts.

Indianapolis is now 5-3 on the season and will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.
