The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the hottest teams in the league over the last month after ripping off their fourth straight win in Week 11 action in a 38-10 drumming of the Tennessee Titans.

It has put them squarely back into the playoff picture heading into the final six weeks of the season. However, first-year head coach Frank Reich has continued to keep a level-headed approach to the entire situation stating that his team still has a long way to go in order to get into the playoff picture and possibly further than that, according to Peter King of NBC Sports.

One of the things Reich has stressed with his team is the ethos of incremental gains. Some call that getting one percent better every day. That’s a Reich mantra. Winning games makes players believe in that. Getting to 5-5 makes them believe they’re progressing. As did this piece of imagery he created for his team after the game: “I told them we’ve climbed out of the deep hole, but now we’ve got a mountain to climb. We got a long way to go.” At least now the Colts can see where they’re going.

Although Reich is maintaining a long overview approach to the entire matter, the Colts have clearly found their way under him over the last month. It has seen them pick it up on both sides of the ball while star quarterback Andrew Luck has continued to play at an impressive level as he has passed for 2,769 yards while being second in the league with 29 touchdown passes along with holding career bests 67.3 percent completion rate and a 101.8 passer rating.

Luck has been able to continue to shake off the rust as he put together another strong performance against the Titans completing an efficient 23-of-29 passes for 297 yards with three touchdowns. He has been on fire during the four-game winning streak with 13 touchdown passes to one interception while holding a passer rating north of 120.0 in each of those contests over that span.

The Colts are trekking in the right direction with the team hitting its stride, but what could be most telling is the approach that Reich is taking that may be instrumental in keeping them pushing forward over the rest of the season.
