The Indianapolis Colts were dominated by the New Orleans Saints in Week 15 on Monday Night Football.
The Colts had been in a must-win situation for quite some time now in the midst of a tight race for the AFC South crown. Unfortunately, they responded with a four-game losing streak and have officially been eliminated from postseason play in embarrassing fashion with their 34-7 loss on the road to the Saints.
Indianapolis was dealt quite a blow prior to the start of the 2019 NFL season when quarterback Andrew Luck announced his sudden retirement. As a result, expectations had already been lowered while there continued to be speculation about what went into Luck's decision to retire during the preseason.
Article Continues BelowFortunately, it appeared as though quarterback Jacoby Brissett was more than up to the task of filling in by leading the Colts to a promising 5-2 start. However, injuries eventually started to take their toll and the offense wound up suffering the most. It was only a matter of time before Brissett started to fizzle out and has since struggled to find his footing under center amidst their recent 1-6 stretch.
The team will have plenty to evaluate in the offseason after failing to even compete for a playoff spot. For now, they must try to focus on ending the year on a high note by potentially finishing 8-8 over the next two games. The Colts will have a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers at home before hitting the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in the season finale.
