In the last two-plus decades, kicker Adam Vinatieri has proven to be an ageless wonder in the NFL as one of the top players at his position. He has remained a highly dependable player that still possesses the strong desire to continue to play for a 23rd season in the league.
Vinatieri's unwavering passion for the game has remained enough to keep him going for at least another NFL season. This was made official on Thursday morning as the 45-year-old agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the Indianapolis Colts, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter also reported the details of Vinatieri's new contract with the Colts, which is worth $3.625 million.
Article Continues BelowThere has been no visible decline in Vinatieri's ability as he's coming off another efficient season where he made 29 of his 34 field goal attempts, good for an 85.3 conversion percentage while making 22 out of 24 extra point attempts. This included continued sharpness from beyond 50 yards nailing five of six attempts with a season-long of 54 yards. However, he did see three of his five misses on the year come from the 30-yard range.
Vinatieri will look to add to his sure-fire Hall of Fame career where he is already the only player to ever score at least 1,000 points with two different teams. He currently trails Hall of Famer Morten Andersen (565) for most field goals made in NFL history (559), and he’s third in most field goals attempted (663) behind only Morten (709) and Gary Anderson (672). He has a chance to be the all-time leader in made field goals and become second in field goals attempted.
What has been remarkable about Vinatieri is that he has shown impressive longevity to remain a viable kicker that stays in the conversion as one of the best in the league. He certainly has the proven resume to back it up, and his ability to show that after 20-plus seasons is a huge feat in its own right. This one-year deal with the Colts could very well mark the final go around for the future Hall of Famer.
