With Andrew Luck now gone from the Indianapolis Colts after his sudden retirement last week, the team is ready to proceed into the 2019 regular season with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback. When it comes to Colts head coach Frank Reich, he believes the team is in good hands and sees plenty of star power in Brissett.
Reich says when he watches Jacoby Brissett, he sees a top-20 QB and a legit starter. Praises Chris Ballard for making the trade two years ago. "I'm sure glad we got him now."

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Reich said that he sees Brissett with the potential of being a top-20 QB, and someone who could be a legit starter. He also noted that while Luck is gone, Brissett won’t be having to learn any new type of offense, with Reich saying the offense will be the same, but just interpreted a bit differently with someone else under center.
Although Brissett’s last attempt at being a starter didn’t go too well, the Colts are much better suited to handle this type of situation than they previously were. After revamping their defense thanks to some solid selections in the NFL Draft, the Colts might not need Brissett to carry them through every game. Fortunately for Brissett, he'll have plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal this time around in the form of a healthy T.Y. Hilton and young running back Marlon Mack.
Combine the defense with an offense filled with rising stars, and an offensive line that is much improved over the last few years, and Reich’s confidence is understandable. Still, with just two weeks left until the Colts open their regular season, it will be interesting to see how Brissett steps into the spotlight, and if he can live up to the billing, his coach sees.
