Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck had a terrific bounce-back year in 2018 after missing the entire 2017 campaign while recovering from shoulder surgery, throwing for 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions while completing 67.3 percent of his passes and registering a career-high passer rating of 98.7.
Colts legend Peyton Manning was very impressed with Luck's performance this season, noting that it was hard to believe he missed an entire season with shoulder problems based on the way he played:
“It’s hard to believe that he really missed the past two years essentially with an injury,” Manning told FOX-59's Chris Hagan. “You thought there would be some rust in there somewhere. I know he probably talked about feeling like there was, but you sure didn’t see it, making all the throws, getting the ball to different playmakers, spreading the ball around, teams playing the pass, opens up a lot of run plays, what a great luxury that is to have him in there and have that threat of the big play and it opens up the opportunity for other players.”
Luck, who first started dealing with shoulder issues in 2015, underwent surgery in January 2017. He was originally supposed to return early in the 2017 campaign, but he had a setback which knocked him out for the whole year.
Naturally, when a quarterback is dealing with problems with his throwing shoulder, you don't know what to expect, but Luck came out and had one of the best years of his career this season, leading the Colts to 10 wins and a Wild Card Round playoff victory over the Houston Texans.
