The Indianapolis Colts made a pretty big splash this offseason when they signed veteran free-agent quarterback Philip Rivers.

For a long time, Rivers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL. Sure, he is at the end of his career, and coming off one of the worst seasons he has ever had, but this is still a veteran leader with plenty of good football left in him.

With that in mind, it is easy to imagine that the Colts were far from the only team that expressed interest in Rivers.

Due to that, a few questions arise. The biggest of those questions is simple, what made Rivers choose the Colts.

According to Andrew Walker of Colts.com, the quarterback gave his reason for being drawn to Indianapolis.

“Tough question: was it the game-changers on offense — the running backs, tight ends, wide receivers — or was it the offensive line that drew you to the Colts?

Rivers: “Well, I have to be honest: all of it. All of it. All of it, and down to, shoot, the coaching staff and all the way to the top; Mr. Irsay, Chris Ballard and the whole way down. It's first-class. It's a first-class run organization. And much has been made of — and fair enough — the offensive line is awesome; I mean, there's no question that what those guys do, and obviously those five guys, all of them, being together the whole season, that played a big part — I know some of them probably battled through some injuries — but that plays a huge part where you can have that continuity. But I tell you what, and I know there was a lot of guys banged up in the skill group, so excited about the whole group starting back together, healthy. All of the above. All of the above; an opportunity, really, to be with a contender, and I could go on and on. I could go on and on. I think all of it. I'm super excited. I know we're all still 0-0 — it's easy to be excited when it's, right, from March to September, until (the season begins).””

Rivers admits there is not one specific thing. It was everything, really. The quarterback talks about the coaching staff and front office. He appreciates the organization and how it is ran.

Then there is the incredible offensive line. Having elite protection is attractive to any quarterback, let alone one coming towards the end of his career who has already been hit countless times.

His new weapons excite him as well.

This is great news for Colts fans. Rivers truly seems excited to be in Indianapolis. Can he help make them a winner? That remains to be seen. But do not be surprised if he does just that.
